If you’re looking for a freaky read, there are a number of ‘October books’ to choose from. One of my favorites is The Bell Witch – An American Haunting by Brent Monahan — it’s based on actual accounts from the Bell family farm in Tennessee and tells the tales of a Kate Batts, a witch — in this case, more of a ghost or apparition — who fluctuates from terrorising a family by shouting expletives and toppling chairs to just being a good old fashioned pain in the arse.

What I didn’t know until recently, though, is that there’s actually a huge cadre of Bell Witch followers, and a number of books on the subject. Check out the Bell Witch official Web site for more information.
