Annual parties have a way of riding waves. Some years are big, smash-up events and others are little ripply affairs.
This year, my expectations for the Annual Pre-Oscar Food Competition were of the ripple variety, only because the day of the soiree coincided with PodCamp WesternMass 4, a big social media event I co-organize. Even if I had a big turnout, I figured I’d be a walking corpse by party-time and it would all smudge by in a foodie-blur.
But PCWM4 went so well, and my co-campers and I got back home in such good time, there was enough room for a catnap before the masses arrived.
As soon as they did, the whetting, gobbling, and frolicking kicked into high gear, making for one of the most successful par-tays in recent memory.
Firstly, the caliber of the dishes was out of the world. That’s not to say it hasn’t been in years passed, but guests definitely got their cook on this year. I think maybe some of them took classes.
